I have been blogging for just over five years now. So in this time I have definitely learnt my fair share. My blog was first a beauty blog where I (tried to!) share all beauty related posts. After a while I realised writing on just beauty alone wasn’t enough because I wanted to write more! So then I started sharing simple recipes. My first recipe was for homemade macaroni and cheese and I remember using the most hideous photos where you could see all the dirty dishes in the sink. LOL!
We all have to start somewhere and five years later I have definitely come a long way. I now post on a diverse range of topics, with travel and food being my two favourites, because I like to keep things interesting. I also make sure my photography is a lot more professional now. Who wants to see dirty dishes in the background!
Five years later, I can definitely say I have learnt a lot when it comes to blogging. From where to start, SEO, social media, how to work with brands and even, since I am an attorney, the legal side of blogging. I am going to be sharing this all with you in regular blog posts. I cannot wait to publish the first post in this new series all about how to start a blog.
Blogging is a lot of fun but don’t think its all just fun and games because it takes a lot of hard work and perseverance to maintain a blog. When I say blogging is a lot of fun, it’s because I love the whole process of it. I love thinking of new blog post ideas, I love taking my photos and I absolutely love putting it all together into one beautiful blog post. I like to think of my blog as a magazine but from a more personal view because I like to tell MY story.
When you start a blog you have to do it for all the right reasons. You have to love taking photos, writing and sitting on the computer for long hours at a time. Ha! You also have to love social media. I find that blogging and social media go hand in hand and the former cannot survive without the latter. You cannot start a blog thinking it’s the easy way to getting all the free things! If this is what you’re thinking, you’ve got it all wrong, so just stop!
So, if you have any questions, leave them in the comments below and I will definitely cover them all in this new series!

PS: Desk pad and 2018 diary are both from MACAROON
What do you think is better, having your own website or purchasing the WordPress premium package? Do PR companies prefer a website that does not include .wordpress.com?
Also, why do most bloggers opt for Mac laptops? Is it faster? I’m in the market for a new laptop…
SO looking forward to this- always something new to learn!
Hi Minky. Thanks for your informative blogs. What I was hoping to see after part 2 was more how to share and promote one’s blog and get followers. I know some about SEO and obviously sharing via social media … but as you say there are millions of blogs out there … how to get someone to find one’s own blog in the world wide internet … Thanks again.
