I Have A Thing For Protea Flowers

Every time I spot a bunch in the shops, at the markets or a single one on my walks, my heart beats a little more than normal. I have just discovered I have a thing for Protea flowers. I can stare at them for hours. They are simply the most beautiful things; they are so eye catching with their vibrant colours and I love how they blossom.

Oh and also because they’re predominately pink!

Fun Facts About Protea Flowers

♦ The King Protea is the national flower of South Africa.

♦ The King Protea is the only one of around 2000 species of the Protea family.

♦ Proteas are also known as sugar bushes.

♦ Proteas grow mostly in dry regions of the southern hemisphere in South Africa, as well as in Australia.

♦ The flowers are pollinated by by sunbirds, sugar birds, honeybees and beetles. The flowers are a rich source of nectar.

  1. I absolutely LOVE proteas! My favourite flower in the whole world.
    One of the things I love most is that even when they dry and die (sad face) you can still keep them because they “die” beautifully. I have a dry one in a vase at home from months and months ago and it still catches my eye all the time and I will never get rid of it.
