My South Africa travel bucket list

Food

I am very lucky to be able to say I have explored a lot of our beautiful country South Africa. Even though I have explored a lot, there is still so much I haven’t seen. I have visited little towns and game reserves and I have stayed at different hotels along the way. But this year I thought I would do something different and put together a bucket list of places I haven’t explored yet and am dying to. So that hopefully by the end of 2019 I can tick off a few of the places and feel like I have achieved in the travel department!

So here is a round up of where I want go and what I want to see in South Africa this year:

Explore Robertson and stay at The Robertson Small Hotel

The one town at the very top of my bucket list is Robertson. Robertson is a quaint country town in the Western Cape about 1.5 hours from Cape Town. This little town is famous for its wine farms, offers some exciting leisurely activities and just looks SO cozy. You know how I love cozy little towns so it’s no wonder Robertson is at the top of my bucket list. I would also love to stay at The Robertson Small Hotel in Robertson. This hotel just oozes luxuriousness. And from all the photos on Instagram, it was definitely love at first sight. Ever since my favourite food blogger, Bianca Davies, said this hotel is “one of my favourite places on earth”, I have been dying to visit!

Float over the Magalies River Valley in Bill Harrop’s Hot Air Balloon

I think this is something on everyone’s bucket list, isn’t it? But this has been on my bucket list for the longest time and I just have to make it happen this year. Just imagine how absolutely beautiful it must be to float into the air and fly over the Magalies River Valley. I also love that this happens just at sunrise so not only will you witness gorgeous views but also a magical sunrise!

PS: If you have the Entertainer App, you get 15% off a Hot Air Balloon Ride for one person.

Spot the Big 5 in Welgevonden Game Reserve

The one game reserve I have yet to visit in South Africa is Welgevonden Game Reserve. This malaria free game reserve is home to the Big 5 and is apparently amazing! One of the safari lodges in this game reserve that has also caught my attention is Mhondro Safari Lodge. Why? Because the elephants come up to the swimming pool area to drink water and for this to happen while I’m having a swim would be a dream come true!

Let this photo do all the talking:

Wake up at Majeka House in Stellenbosch

Everything about Majeka House looks incredible! From the actual hotel to the Spa and the restaurant Makaron, I want to experience the magic of it all. One of my favourite travel and food bloggers, Tahlia from Too Much Loveliness says this hotel is one of her favourite hotels and she has literally been all over! She also says Makaron is one of her favourite restaurants and she definitely knows her food!

I mean is this room with a flamingo accent wall not exquisite?

Stay in a luxury treetop lodge

Just picture the scene: waking up in a treehouse overlooking a green lush forest and sipping on your morning coffee! This sounds magical doesn’t it? This is what it would be like to stay at Tsala Treetop Lodge just outside of Plettenberg Bay. I just have to tick this off the bucket list and say I have stayed in a luxury treehouse. I mean I wasn’t one of those lucky kids that had a treehouse in their garden, so as an adult now, this is the closest I will get to that childhood fun. Ha!
