The Oranjezicht City Farm is a local food market in Granger Bay, Cape Town. To describe this market in a few words, it is a haven for all foodies alike. And I wish we had something even half as amazing in Johannesburg!
First of all, the market is centred around the freshest produce from local farmers; and secondly you will find artisanal food producers offering the very best. This means you will feast your eyes on an array of fresh fruit and vegetables, homemade breads and cheeses, olive oils and honey, and finally cured meats or fresh fish. With such a selection, there is no excuse for you not to do your weekly shopping. If groceries aren’t your thing and you’re on the hungry side, you can either opt for breakfast or lunches from one of the many vendors offering such. You can finish off your meal with a cup of coffee and sweet treats, like ice cream, cakes and pastries.
So now you know why the market is a foodies haven, it is a shopping mecca for both raw and cooked food options.
With such a selection, what caught my eye on my first visit was the variety of fresh flowers and fruit.
