Linden is a little suburb in the heart of Johannesburg that has a piece of my heart. It is so cosy, so quaint and is home to many exciting restaurants and coffee shops. And one of them being Sweet Tea and Chickadee. This fun little spot brings a taste of America to South Africa! Sweet Tea and Chickadee is a Southern American bakery and cafe serving up all the American classics. From American style biscuit sandwiches, cornbread, smores, key lime pie, hummingbird cake and even shrimp and grits, the menu offers such a variety of exciting treats. 

What makes this cafe so special is the charming yet cosy atmosphere inside. The staff are extremely passionate and the food offers an authentic taste of the American South. When you’re seated, sipping on a steaming cup of coffee and bite into an American style biscuit, it feels like you’re being transported all the way to Louisiana.

Although the menu offers a wide variety of yummy items to choose from, I’m here to tell you to order a Side of Pancakes. You will get 2 pancakes served with homemade honey butter and bourbon brown sugar syrup. The pancakes are light, fluffy and just perfectly flavoured with the butter and syrup poured over. Whether you have these for breakfast or an afternoon pick me up with a cup of coffee, your sweet tooth will definitely be satisfied!
