We have just returned from the most magical weekend at the Oyster Box Hotel in Durban. When I say it was magical, I mean it in every way! This hotel is an award winning 5 star luxury boutique hotel and everything about this hotel is truly magical. Especially the High Tea at the Oyster Box Hotel!
It is no wonder that this hotel has won so many awards and has been called the number one hotel in South Africa. After a brief stayover, I can definitely see why. It oozes absolute luxury in the most beautiful setting in the heart of Umhlanga.
As you walk through the front door, timeless glamour and charm welcome you. And so do the friendliest staff with their heartiest smiles who will happily go the extra mile.
Our time at this iconic hotel was spent relaxing, swimming and soaking up the panoramic views from the swimming pool. We also ate a lot because the food at the hotel is phenomenal. From indulging in the extraordinary breakfast buffet, to toasted sandwiches at the pool as well as the famous High Tea and the curry buffet for dinner, it really was a food fiesta!
The High Tea
The Oyster Box is famous for its very indulgent High Tea in the Palm Court. This is the perfect setting to nibble on tiny sandwiches, scones and macaroons while drinking tea out of Royal Albert fine china. The high tea table is filled to the brim with sumptuous treats ranging from freshly baked scones, pastries, quiches and cakes, to finger sandwiches and savouries. It is definitely a treat for the eyes and for the mouths!
We celebrated a special occasion at the hotel and it really was truly special. I can’t wait to return to create more memorable moments and to feel like absolute royalty, again.
