I recently enjoyed a taste of the Palazzo’s perfect high tea.

The Palazzo Montecasino is renowned for being one of the most beautiful and romantic hotels in Johannesburg. It absolutely oozes with opulence and elegance. The hotel has recently introduced a high tea of the same calibre, which has been created by newly appointed Head Pastry Chef Marco Gaspar.

The high tea is a delectable and indulgent affair. Think tiers of sweet and savoury treats. From lime cheesecake mousse with raspberry jam and orange soft cake, to dark chocolate berry tart, mango coconut custard choux puff, macaroons, lemon meringue tart to dark chocolate slices. The savoury treats include smoked salmon and ricotta cheese quiche, duck and cherry pie and chicken pastrami sandwiches. Always a favourite at high tea though is scones, which are served with Chantilly cream, strawberry jam and cheese.

To accompany the treats you can order yourself a fresh pot of flavourful tea or a delicious cup of coffee.

Everything was just so moreish but I absolutely loved  the indulgent dark chocolate slice. I am a chocoholic after all.

I certainly don’t need an excuse to indulge in high tea, especially a perfect one, and neither do you. So grab the girls, your mom, or even your man, and treat yourself to an afternoon of blissful indulgence away from the pressures of life. I know I am going to!
