What’s for breakfast? Here are 10 ideas for the morning

Food

There are two types of people in this world. Those who eat breakfast and those who don’t. The former cannot wait to get out of bed in the morning for their favourite meal of the day. And the latter sleep in because they’re in a committed relationship with their bed.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I won’t harp on this fact because we all know it is.

Now that time isn’t such a rare commodity right now (during lockdown, that is!) waking up for breakfast will be a thing you can finally enjoy. On the porch, in your garden and not in the car in morning traffic!

IDEAS FOR A DELICIOUS BREAKFAST

eggs, eggs, eggs

There are so many ways you can eat your eggs. Scrambled, poached, fried. omelette or boiled. And don’t forget the most fun way: egg and soldiers, when the egg is perfectly boiled with a runny yolk!

My favourite way to eat eggs is scrambled with chopped tomato, baby spinach leaves, olives and topped with feta cheese. I like to have this with a perfectly toasted pita bread! It’s really good especially for dinner on a Sunday night.

greek yoghurt and fruit

Greek yoghurt is an excellent source of protein. I like to keep a few individual tubs in the fridge because they make for a perfect snack or breakfast treat. Grab a tub, top with berries, toasted coconut flakes and some honey and breakfast is a winner!

homemade granola

Granola is the best, especially an extra nutty granola because it kinda tastes like peanut butter 🙂 I like to make my own homemade granola, then I know exactly what ingredients is going inside. Granola topped with yoghurt, some banana and honey is the bees knees – no pun intended! Here is a recipe for my super delicious homemade banana granola.

oats, oats, oats

A bowl of oats is always comforting and more so now that it is coming to winter. Not only is it comforting, but it is so healthy and very wholesome. But it has to be done the right way or no way at all. I like it creamy, with a little bit of maple syrup and a whole lot of chopped fruit. If you not sure how to make a perfect bowl, here is how in a blog post.

pancakes

The best thing about pancakes is how quick and easy it is to make. And also how delicious they are! Bonus! My favourite are these healthy banana pancakes using coconut flour – click here for the recipe.

a smoothie

If time isn’t on your side and you still want to enjoy something delicious, I suggest you whiz up a smoothie. Or if you want your kids to enjoy something extra special, whiz them up a peanut butter and jelly smoothie or take a look here for more recipes.

avo on toast

My heart beats a little faster when I hear the words “avo on toast”. It is just the most delicious. With a sprinkle of chilli and it is perfection. My favourite is avo on rye toast with a poached egg on top. Yum!

apple compote

I’m not sure if its apple compote or apple “compost” because in my youth I called it apple compost and no one ever corrected me but now when I call it that I get funny looks. So for my blog I’ll call it apple compote. Apple compote, greek yoghurt and some granola. Oh my! My favourite favourite favourite breakfast lately. Here is the recipe because I just know you want to make. A little suggestion is to add a few pears too.

peanut butter and toast

Peanut butter and toast and a cup of tea. Especially on low GI bread because those seeds make it extra tasty! Still the best breakfast ever, in my opinion!

carrot muffins

Last but not least, if you have a sweet tooth, then these carrot muffins will do. Have one with a cuppacino and it will feel like you’re at a cozy coffee shop somewhere

What is your favourite go to breakfast?
